Kingdom Regalia

12/9/2013

At the recent moot, members of the populace have asked what specific items of regalia would be of use. Below is a list of some that are needed or at a minimum could certainly be used.

• Thrones (should break down)
• Banners
• Banner Stands
• New Box(es) for between the Thrones
• New box(es) for TRM and TRH feast gear
• Table cloths
• Award tokens
• Covers for halbards that tie one
• Kingdom Cloaks (light and heavy weight)
• Day shade for in Kingdom
• Crowns

Many of the items noted above the Kingdom has but they are showing their age and general wear and tear. Yes they can be fixed but some new items would also be of use.

Some thoughts on Regalia
• Sturdy- Assume all Regalia is packed, unpacked, and assembled by people who have been deprived of sleep and driven a couple hundred miles, and/or very eager 4 year olds. Over and over and over. Assume likewise that assembly directions are lost after the first day unless they are burned in, sewn in, or glued on.
• Non fragile- There is a fine line to be tread between lightweight and fragile, but assume things will be put down on it, even with the best of intentions, unless it has a very specific box.
• Boxed/bagged- Unless it has a VERY specific case, assume things will be packed with other things. There are only so many boxes that will fit in TRM's car. Also, bags will get mixed up, unless you label them
• Colorfast- Red is a fugitive dye in the best times- it often runs, and also fades in the sun. Test your fabrics for color fastness- some well-intentioned soul will wash them. If you can use something like Raycafix to set the color. Dry cleaning isn't the best option either. Leather dye should also be appropriately fixed, and a coat of clear varnish will prevent many pink paint scrapes.
•Correct- If you are using the Royal heraldry, please ensure it is the correct heraldry that the Trefoil or Trillium is the right way up.
•Convenient- Vehicles change with every reign, not everyone has a van or trailer, some may drive a smart car. Please endeavour to make items that can fit in a medium-sized car. Consider, if you can sensibly pack it in your own vehicle, along with your own wooden chairs, feast gear, garb, armor, banners & stands, modern clothes and needs, then it is likely something the Royal Family may do the same with.- This is about the minimum that the Royals travel with in Their own vehicles.
•Matched- the unity of the Royal Family is symbolically communicated by the unity of Their appearance.
•For the Royal Presence- Please consider how your donation enhances the ceremonial presence of the Royal Family.

This Month in Ealdormere's History

12/5/2013

By THLaird Colyne Stewart

In December AS 10, Sylard of Eagleshaven first set his eyes to the lands to the north of Eoforwic, looking for unused tracts of land suitable for founding a penal colony. Over time Sylard’s collection of outlaws and brigands would grow into a true canton, known as Petrea Thule. Sylard later moved on again, and took up residence in the thistly land of Monadh.

Petrea Thule would gain renown as the birthplace of royalty and nobility. The canton would produce not one, but two, sets of Septentrian nobility. For Petrea Thule was home at various times to Cordigan d’Arnot and Diane d’Arnot (the second Baron and third Baroness of Septentria), and Ieuan McKellmore and Adrielle Kerrec (the third Baron and the fourth Baroness of Septentria). This is the same Cordigan and Diane that would one day be Prince and Princess of Ealdormere, and Baron and Baroness of Ramshaven. The Norseman, Thorbjorn Osis Brandson, was first seen dwelling in the Thule. Indeed, he and Ragnheithr Thorbjarnarsdottir lived in Petrea Thule during their own reign as Prince and Princess of Ealdormere. Osis would later also reign as King of Ealdormere once it became a kingdom. Adrielle would also later become royalty as she and Sir Nigel MacFarlane would reign twice as king and queen.

For a time Petrea Thule would also be known for its shieldwall. The wall, which included Ieuan, Cordigan and Osis, seemed invincible and often took no casualties. One popular legend tells of future Septentrian Baron Aedan na Kincora leaving the field at Pennsic and watching the wall with the yellow scutums destroy their enemies. When he asked what kingdom was so privileged to have such soldiers on the field he was told that the wall came from his newest canton. “Well,” he said, “I am certainly glad they are on our side.”

Greetings awesome people of Ealdormere,

As I mentioned in Court yesterday, Lady Leisl Woolmonger & I will be your Autocrats for War of the Trillium 2014. In the spirit of the creativity we all witnessed yesterday it was rather fitting that I announced our kingdom wide "give Trillies a theme" competition.

We are looking for a theme that will be creative, fun, exciting, will lead to a great T-shirt design, and generally inspire everyone to come out and enjoy Trillium War once again.

Anyone can enter the competition by submitting as many theme ideas as you would like to the following email address:

trillium.theme.competition@gmail.com

A committee of event staff and our lovely Excellencies of Septentria will be judging the competition once it closes on January 10th 2014. The winners will be announced at our friends in the shire of Bastille du Lac’s event Tournoi du Coeur de Glace on January 18th.

The prize for the competition is free entry for 2 to the War of the Trillium 2014 camping event.

We look forward to seeing your entries.

YiS,
Lady Eeva the Restless & Lady Leisl Woolmonger
Seneschal & Deputy Seneschal of Ard Chreag
Co-Autocrats War of the Trillium 2014
