Persona:
Martin Bildner hails from the town of Wismaralong the coast of the
Baltic Sea. Born at the beginning of the 14th century, Martin is a
sculptor, instrument maker and musician who was strongly influenced
by the art and music of his norse neighbours. Martin left Wismar to
pursue both his crafts and a fishing lass from Denmark, Emma
Dansmeyla, whom he eventually married. They now travel widely on her
father's knarr with their son William (fishing for red herrings no
doubt).
Martin works primarily with wood, but he dabbles in all the arts.
Martin is proficient with many instruments (including the 36 string
harp he built) and is the principal musician for Ealdormere's
dancers. He is currently working with Emma Dansmeyla on
reconstructing the Gresley dances (English, c. 1500).
Martin can also be found under the guise of the skald Rig Skeggr
(the bearded Rig). As a norse man, Rig has been working on
re-telling the sagas in song and story. Most notable are his "Norse
Kings Saga", "Bragi's Tale" and his recitations from the epic
Finnish poem "The Kalevala".
Martin Bildner was the last Pentathlon winner of the Principality of
Ealdormere as well as the ninth pentathlon winner of the Kingdom of
Ealdormere.
Richard Schweitzer lives in the country just outside the village of
Laurel and is a teacher in Orangeville. Richard also spends a great
deal of time working as a theatre technician for Theatre Orangeville
when not otherwise occupied by his wife Sarah Scroggie and son
William.
