Inspired by his lady, Trumbrand the Wanderer won the rights to the Northern Thrones and to make Kaylah the Cheerful Princess at Ealdormere Crown Tournament!
The third Royal Game Tourney will be held this coming Saturday at Crown Tourney TIME PERMITTING. It will be held after the end of the tournament to decide the heirs of our kingdom, and court. The featured game will be Alquerque. You can find rules on the Games Guild webpage, and you can practice online at the link below. Please note, the only online version of Alquerque I have found so far seems a little buggy, but you should get the gist if things. It plays similar to checkers.

I have recently met with the Privy Council and we have come to the decision not to continue hosting the Ealdormere Wiki as a Kingdom.
We will release the database and files to the populace of Ealdormere as we do recognize that the community assembled the content and we want to release that to the populace should someone desire to maintain the Wiki.
If you would like to take over the wiki, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I am looking for my first deputy - a Kingdom Cartographer!
I am looking for a deputy to organize and implement the creation of new Kingdom Maps for display and use of the Kingdom Website and the populace at large. While we have some nice digital maps, they are dated and are sorely in need of updating.
You don’t have to create maps yourself (though that would certainly be a nice attribute)
If you are interested is this job please contact me at email@example.com

On the thirteenth day of May, in the thirteenth year of the Society, the northern shires were recognized as a true barony of the Middle Kingdom by King Merowald II and Queen Kirsten II. So thus in our northern lands the number of thirteen is no ill omen but a sign of good fortune.
The name of this new barony was Septentria, which, as Duke Sir Finnvarr later explained, was derived from the Latin septentriones, meaning north, northern region, or north winds. The Barony’s arms featured a bear, representing the northern lands, and three interlaced chevronels in honour of the three founding shires—Eoforwic, Ben Dunfirth and Noerlanda. Gillian d’Uriel—who designed the barony’s arms—then became the first Baroness of Septentria.

Have you ever wondered about what events led to the founding of Ealdormere? Or it's local groups? The History of Ealdormere website is a repository os histories written about the kingdom and its baronies, shires and cantons. Several new histories have recently been added, so if you've never visited the site before, now is a good time!
On the 26th day of April 2014 (AS 48), Baron Siegfried Brandbeorn, knight of the Society, and squire to Duke Sir Finnvarr deTaahe, and Ragni Dzintari, wife of the same Finnvarr, were crowned as King and Queen of Ealdormere. Though it was his right to Crown Ragni as the Queen of the north, King Siegfried, on behalf of true love, gave that right to Finnvarr. Before an emotional crowd, Duke Finnvarr placed the Crown of the Queen of Ealdormere upon the brow of his lady wife.

Thank you to everyone who made Coronation such a great time. We had a great day and it was a wonderful end to our reign. It was wonderful to share the day with friends from near and far and to see some faces we haven't seen in a very long time. Special thanks once again to our household for their patience and support this past year - especially Mahault and Mahhild for being Chancellor and Chamberlain. Thank you as well to those who served as our Champions, Mistress Ælfwyn Langanwuda, Lord Rorik, TH Lady Jocelyn and Lady Ailis - you were all amazing and we were so humbled to have you be our champions. To the Kingdom - we were touched by the support and enthusiasm which you shared with us, truly without You we are nothing as Crown. It was such a privilege to be able to welcome so many new folks, bestow awards on talented and deserving folks and to share the past year with you all.
Congratulations and Wassail to TRM Siegfried and Ragni - We were wonderfully surprised with the Ducal Estates you granted us.
Thank you all, cheers

In April AS 18 the people of the north held an arts and sciences competition at which many wonderful works were shown. Many awards were granted to recognize the skills of their crafters. Most notable of all was Sylard of Eagleshaven’s induction into the Order of the Laurel for his metalwork.

Mistress Aelfwyn also gifted the Kingdom a set of Court Baronacy Coronets for regalia. These would be day loaners for the Crown to use should they chose to bestow a Court Baronacy but where they have not had an opportunity to have a Coronet made. The recipient would return it to the Crown at the end of the day and be responsible for commissioning their own Coronet.
We also gifted Lady Kaisa a gift certificate for a pair of Bohemond Shoes. We chose her as she has already added to much to the Kingdom during her short time in the SCA and she is continually striving to improve her kit and in doing so has inspired Us.

At Gulf Wars We conducted a small piece of business in Calontir Court.
We placed Sir Bohemond le Sinistre and his wife Lady Rhieinwylydd Cyfeilog on the Scroll of Honour.
They have extended such generosity and kindness to Ourselves and the people of Ealdormere that we thought it was a just a proper thing to do.
Many will know them from their shop at Pennsic and other Wars - Boots by Bohemond.
We are humbled by their friendship and generosity and wanted to mark them as nobles of merit and gems of our realm.
We gave them each a stone from Our own Crowns.

My time as Kingdom Marshal of Minor Combat is coming to an end, and it is time to look for a successor.
The Kingdom Youth Combat Marshal is warranted by the Earl Marshal to supervise and monitor Youth Combat in the Kingdom. The Deputy of Youth Combat must approve all Marshals and Constables. Approval is designated as placing that individual’s name upon the recommended Warrant Roster submitted to the Earl Marshal for approval. They will also be required to report quarterly to the Kingdom Earl Marshal.
Interested people should send their SCA resume to myself (firstname.lastname@example.org), the Interim Earl Marshal Sir Evander (email@example.com), and the Kingdom Seneschal, Baroness Keresteken (firstname.lastname@example.org). Applications should arrive no later then April 30, 2014.
Yours in grateful service,

To all who hear these lists, let it be known that Jhone of Woodcote and Wilfred of Swefingham will sit Vigil for the Order of the Laurel at Practicum, in the Canton of Caldrithig.
I would offer a gentle reminder that, although garb is often not worn during classes, it would be appreciated if all those planning on attending the vigils, including Jhone's class, would please dress accordingly.
Greetings in the search for light!
If Candlemas Day be fair and bright
Winter will have another fight
If Candlemas Day brings cloud and rain
Winter won’t come again
The medieval festival of Candlemas on February 2nd marks the halfway point of winter, halfway between the Winter Solstice (December 21) and the Spring Equinox (March 20th). One custom of the middle ages was to bring beeswax candles to church to blessed on February 2nd and hence the name. Our Ealdormerian winter is likely to hold on for while still, but the days are
getting brighter! With the longer days we can also look forward to the Spring A&S Faire, which conveniently takes place a week after the Spring Equinox: March 29th, in Ben Dunfirth. I trust everyone has their projects well in hand and I look forward to seeing them.
On a more administrative note, this letter is my second announcement
that I am accepting applications for a Sucessor. Ideally this person will spend a year as my deputy and then step into the role. The deadline for applications is March 1st in order that Privy Council has time to review them prior to Spring
A&S. When applying, please include both a letter outlining why you like the job, and a CV of positions you’ve held in the SCA and/or any applicable experience outside the SCA.
Once again and once more, farewell until our paths should cross, or my next letter should arrive in your hands.

As promised, our winner of our Theme for War of the Trillium 2014 was announced at Tournoi du Coeur de Glace.
The submissions were gathered by one person only, with no one else having knowledge of their owners.
We were overwhelmed with the responses! It was great! Thank you to everyone that submitted their ideas! I can tell you that if your idea didn't make it here, it may yet become a day event theme!
We went through them one by one.... Can we work this one into a camp ........ yes, yes, but .... . We kept coming back to one and decided that must be theme!
Our winning theme for War of the Trillium 2014 will be set in "16th Century Elizabethan, The English vs the Spanish, No One Would Expect the Spanish Armada".
Congratulations to Lord Albrecht Stampfer! His prize is admission for two to War of the Trillium 2014!

In January AS 11, the people of the northlands began to consider uniting together as a barony of the Middle Kingdom. Many supported the idea, though many were against it as well. It would take two years for this idea to finally bear fruit.

To the talented, warm, and generous people of the Kingdom
of Ealdormere do I, Wencenedl, KMoAS, send wishes
for an auspicious start to the year!
It has been two months since our Fall A&S event and I’m
still hearing people talk about! It is a good thing, I think,
that we have a Spring A&S Faire in less than three months’
time. I am looking forward to another wonderful day and
I trust everyone has their projects well in hand. It was also
encouraging to have a lot of discussion about the Arts

At this time, I am accepting applications for a Sucessor.
Ideally this person will spend a year as my deputy and
then step into the role. Therefore, I would like to that
person chosen and approved by Privy Council prior to
Spring A&S. The deadline for applications is March 1st.

Fare ye well always
At the recent moot, members of the populace have asked what specific items of regalia would be of use. Below is a list of some that are needed or at a minimum could certainly be used.
• Thrones (should break down)
• Banner Stands
• New Box(es) for between the Thrones
• New box(es) for TRM and TRH feast gear
• Table cloths
• Award tokens
• Covers for halbards that tie one
• Kingdom Cloaks (light and heavy weight)
• Day shade for in Kingdom
Many of the items noted above the Kingdom has but they are showing their age and general wear and tear. Yes they can be fixed but some new items would also be of use.
Some thoughts on Regalia
• Sturdy- Assume all Regalia is packed, unpacked, and assembled by people who have been deprived of sleep and driven a couple hundred miles, and/or very eager 4 year olds. Over and over and over. Assume likewise that assembly directions are lost after the first day unless they are burned in, sewn in, or glued on.
• Non fragile- There is a fine line to be tread between lightweight and fragile, but assume things will be put down on it, even with the best of intentions, unless it has a very specific box.
• Boxed/bagged- Unless it has a VERY specific case, assume things will be packed with other things. There are only so many boxes that will fit in TRM's car. Also, bags will get mixed up, unless you label them
• Colorfast- Red is a fugitive dye in the best times- it often runs, and also fades in the sun. Test your fabrics for color fastness- some well-intentioned soul will wash them. If you can use something like Raycafix to set the color. Dry cleaning isn't the best option either. Leather dye should also be appropriately fixed, and a coat of clear varnish will prevent many pink paint scrapes.
•Correct- If you are using the Royal heraldry, please ensure it is the correct heraldry that the Trefoil or Trillium is the right way up.
•Convenient- Vehicles change with every reign, not everyone has a van or trailer, some may drive a smart car. Please endeavour to make items that can fit in a medium-sized car. Consider, if you can sensibly pack it in your own vehicle, along with your own wooden chairs, feast gear, garb, armor, banners & stands, modern clothes and needs, then it is likely something the Royal Family may do the same with.- This is about the minimum that the Royals travel with in Their own vehicles.
•Matched- the unity of the Royal Family is symbolically communicated by the unity of Their appearance.
•For the Royal Presence- Please consider how your donation enhances the ceremonial presence of the Royal Family.
